                                                                             Quidditch: the rules

 

                                                                              

   

    In the game of Quidditch the most popular game in the wizarding world. There are 7 players on each team.

3 chasers which handle the quaffle (a ball about the size of a soccer ball) they pass back in forth

and try to put it through the 3 hoops raised about 50 feet in the air.

The keeper try's to stop them from scoring. Each score is worth 10 points

2 beaters which fly around with a small club and try to beat bludgers, which are smaller balls that fly around trying

to knock people off their brooms, at the other team.

Last is the seeker, a small and light player preferably, that around try's to catch the golden snitch. When a seeker catches the snitch

the game is over, and that team is awarded 150 points.

There are 700 Quidditch fouls listed in the records. All were said to have occurred during the first Quidditch World Cup during 1473

Blagging                                                                            Grabbing an opponent's broom tail to slow or hinder

 

Blatching                                                                            Flying with an intent to collide

 

Blurting                                                                               Locking broom handles with a view to steering an opponent off course

 

Blumphing                 Hitting a bludger towards crowd, necessitating a halt of the game while the officials rush protect bystanders, used to prevent chasers from scoring

 

Cobbing                                                                              Excessive use of elbows towards opponents

 

Flacking                                                                              Blocking the goal hoop from behind, not in front

 

Haversacking                                                                      Hand still on quaffle as it goes through goal hoop (must be thrown)

 

Quaffle-pocking                                                                    Puncturing the quaffle to make it drop or zigzag

 

Snitchnip                                                                                Any other players other than seeker touching or grabbing the snitch

 

Stooging                                                                                 More than one chaser entering the scoring area
